Testimonies from the
Rock Co. Fair

“When summer missionary Abby Schleif showed an adult Acts 16:31 and had her read it out loud, I could sense a tone in her voice as if it was shocking to her that it was that simple and right there in the Bible. This woman bowed her head, prayed silently, and showed obvious signs of the Holy Spirit working in her heart.  She said she had gone to church for years and read the Bible but never had seen about the need for a personal relationship.  What an awesome thing to witness right before our eyes! Then an older couple who were Christians came by to thank us for our tent because their teenage grandson’s girlfriend, for whom they had been praying for a long time, accepted Christ at our tent the day before. They said the whole family was rejoicing including the angels of heaven.”

-Jonathan Alden, Former Fair Ministry Coordinator

“Three 12-year-old boys came in to hear the story. Throughout the whole thing, I could tell they were really listening. When I was talking about how Jesus died for them, they looked really sad. Then when we got to the clean page and I asked if they wanted to receive Christ, they all said “sure.” One boy even said “well, yea!” He said it like I had asked a dumb question – of course he wanted to accept Christ.”

-Abby Schleif, Former CEF Summer Missionary

Fair Ministry

Fair Ministry The local fair is an ideal opportunity to minister to people in the community! Each year, CEF has a spot at the Rock Co. Fair in Janesville, WI, the Stoughton Fair in Stoughton, WI, and other local carnivals and fairs to share the message of salvation through the Wordless Book. The Wordless Book is a very effective tool using colors to represent the different parts of the Gospel message. Fairgoers of all ages are given the opportunity to receive Christ as their Savior at the fair, and many people’s lives have been impacted by this ministry over the years. Fair Ministry

CEF summer missionaries and Christians of all ages have the opportunity to work at the fair ministry, seeing the Lord work mightily.

During the summer of 2011, CEF Madison set up a tent to present the Wordless Book at Oakfest in Monona, the Stoughton Fair in Stoughton, the Vandenburg Carnival in Sun Prairie, Rock County Fair in Janesville, the Wesley Church Carnival in Janesville, and at the Grace Church Festival in New Glarus. We reached over 700 children with the message of the Gospel and many of their parents as well. Of those 700, 170 of them accepted Jesus Christ Fair Ministryas their Savior.

Will you be a part of what the Lord is doing at the fair? There is a need for workers to volunteer for as much of a four-hour shift as possible to tell the Wordless Book, simply invite people walking by to hear the story, or just be an adult presence to supervise. Ask the Lord how you might be part of this great harvest!

Wordless Book

Have you heard the message of salvation through the wordless book? CEF teacwordless bookhes this presentation technique in the CYIA program and in TCE. Teachers use the wordless book in their Good News Clubs.

The wordless book dates back all the way to Charles Spurgeon, a famous London Baptist preacher, in 1866. Mr. Spurgeon's "book" only contained three colors, Black for sin, Red for the blood of Jesus, and White for righteousness. In 1875 Dwight L. Moody added the Gold page after the white page representing Heaven. CEF added the fifth page, the Green page, between the white and gold, representing the need to grow in Christ after salvation. CMI® now offers a 30-minute online seminar, Wordless Book Training Seminar, designed to equip you to effectively present the message of salvation to children. Individual and Group training options are available.
